On May 8, 2014, Professor John Q. Barrett spoke at a special session of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, honoring the life and service of Judge Lawrence E. Walsh (1912-2014). Judge Walsh, a member of the Southern District bench from 1954-1957, later served as Deputy Attorney General of the United States, as president of the New York State and American Bar Associations, and as Iran/Contra Independent Counsel. Struve of Davis, Polk & Wardwell, the law firm where Judge Walsh practiced law for decades.
